Moroccan Akdital sets up in Tunisia by buying Taoufik Hospitals Group

The Moroccan group Akdital, leader of the private health sector in Morocco, announced, Tuesday December 23, 2025, the signing of a memorandum of understanding relating to the acquisition of 100% of the capital of the Tunisian group Taoufik Hospitals Group (THG), for a total value of 90 million US dollars. This operation, which remains subject to obtaining the usual regulatory authorizations, marks Akdital’s first establishment in North Africa outside of Morocco.

Taoufik Hospitals Group: a major player in private health in Tunisia

Founded in 2014, Taoufik Hospitals Group is today one of the main private healthcare players in Tunisia. The group operates four private hospital establishments, totaling more than 600 beds, including one hundred intensive care beds. THG has more than 1,600 employees and collaborates with a network of more than 500 partner doctors. Each establishment is positioned as a center of excellence covering varied disciplines, such as oncology, neurology, functional rehabilitation, traumatology, interventional cardiology, as well as a complete multidisciplinary offer. The group welcomes local but also international patients, particularly from neighboring countries and sub-Saharan Africa.

Financial performance and growth prospects

Financially, THG posted consolidated revenues of more than $45 million in 2024, with an EBITDA margin of 35% and a net margin of 13%. Projections for 2025 show growth of around 15%, driven mainly by the growth in oncology activity.

The THG model is based on high standards in terms of quality and safety of care, attested by several international and local accreditations, notably HAS and INEAS. This acquisition is presented by Akdital as a strategic operation aimed at creating complementarity between the two groups, both in terms of medical expertise and organizational models. It should encourage exchanges of skills, operational development and mobility of talents, while paving the way for strengthened medical cooperation.

For Akdital, already present in the Middle East via the Abdul Rahman Al Mishari Hospital in Riyadh and the Bishri Hospital in Mecca, this acquisition constitutes a key step in its ambition to build a regional growth platform based on medical excellence and skills development.

Akdital: a regional leader in private health

In Morocco, Akdital has 41 establishments spread across 24 cities, representing 4,111 beds, and employs nearly 10,000 healthcare professionals. Listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange since December 2022 under the symbol AKT, the group is pursuing a strategy focused on medical innovation, territorial development and proximity to patients. Already present in Saudi Arabia, Akdital positions itself as a key player in excellent medicine accessible to all, and aims to build a regional platform based on excellence and sharing of skills.

With this acquisition, Akdital takes a step forward in its international development, consolidating its presence in North Africa and affirming its desire to create regional synergy around medical excellence and talent training.
