Heckled at the start by Francesco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez raised the tone to win the Sprint race for the GP des Americs in front of his brother Alex Marquez and his teammate. Author of a first Canon round, Fabio Quartararo took 6th place when Johann Zarco could not do better than 16th.
There is definitely Marc Marquez and the others at the start of the MotoGP season! Author of the double Sprint-Grand Prix in Buriram before recurrent in Termas de Rio Hondo, the Ducati driver confirmed that the Americas circuit was his kingdom. After resisting Fabio Di Giannantonio in qualifying, the six -time world champion dominated the Sprint race of the Americas Grand Prix. However, he was more than heckled in an intense first round.
Author of a good start, Marc Marquez saw Francesco Bagnaia plunge inside the first turn to settle behind him before passing it. With authority, the Spaniard gave the Spanish in his exhausts. But the battle was not over because, close to losing balance in the quadruple right -to -right turn of the last quarter of the route, he saw “Pecco” Bagnaia and his brother Alex Marquez melt on him … but also Fabio Quartararo! Starting from the 11th position, “El Diablo” went back to the 6th position very early in this first round.
Mr. Marquez Power five
He then knew how to take advantage of an incident between Pedro Acosta and Franco Morbidelli to settle in fourth position. However, if he was able to take the wheel of Francesco Bagnaia, double the former double world champion was out of reach. This allowed the two pilots of the VR46 team, Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio, to get closer. A small error from the 2021 world champion opened the door to his former teammate before “Diggia” also passed before dislodging his compatriot from 4th place.
An offensive time on Franco Morbidelli, Fabio Quartararo had to admit defeat and settle for the 6th position under the checkered flag. At the forefront, Marc Marquez managed his race to keep the advantage on his brother, even if he did not hesitate to push on a few laps to demonstrate the potential of his Ducati Cuvée 2025. It is with a little less than eight tenths of a second that the sextle world champion signs his fifth victory in five races played this season.
Quartararo present, not Zarco
He again is ahead of his brother when Francesco Bagnaia limits breakage with third place. Ducati signs a quintuplet with Fabio di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli. Which makes Fabio Quartararo the “best of others” on the handlebars of his Yamaha. Pedro Acosta, Luca Marini and Ai Ogura take the last points available during this sprint. Starting in the middle of the grid, Johann Zarco lost ground at the start and has never been able to go up in the hierarchy.
The LCR stable pilot takes a 16th place far from the potential shown at the start of the season with his Honda, the choice of a medium tire in order to prepare the Grand Prix this Sunday did not pay against the tender eraser of its rivals. With this new victory, Marc Marquez distance his opponents a little more in the championship ranking and will approach the race with maximum confidence on a circuit of the Americas which has already seen him impose himself seven times.
