Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu began a crucial meeting on Monday, December 12, with the Socialists, key interlocutors in his quest for a compromise on budgets, including that of Social Security, which returns to the Assembly from Tuesday.

The first secretary of the PS Olivier Faure, accompanied by the leaders of the deputies Boris Vallaud, and the senators Patrick Kanner, as well as other deputies such as Jérôme Guedj or Philippe Brun went to Matignon shortly after noon. “We can say that we are making progress. We are in an approach that can lead to a compromise but we are not there yet“, affirmed at the end of an hour and a half meeting with the Prime Minister, the boss of the PS, Olivier Faure.

Accompanied by other socialist leaders, Olivier Faure assured that they and the Prime Minister had reviewed “line by line” the draft budget for social security. “It’s a moment of responsibility for everyone (…) We will judge based on what is ultimately presented to us.”. Sébastien Lecornu must now speak with the communists.
