This Friday, on the hungarring line in Budapest, the pilot signed the best time of the first free test session of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the last round of the World Formula 1 championship before the traditional summer break. At the wheel of his McLaren, the Briton has ahead of his teammate, the Australian Oscar Piastri.
In third position, we then find the Ferrari of Monegasque Charles Leclerc. The second Scuderia, controlled by the British Lewis Hamilton, arrives in fifth position. Between the two, in fourth place, we find a Frenchman, namely Isack Hadjar, behind the wheel of his Racing Bulls. For this first weekend outing, the Red Bull find themselves more behind.
The Dutchman Max Verstappen is only ninth, while the Japanese Yuki Tsunoda is even further, and more precisely in 17th position. It’s the same for Mercedes. Italian Kimi Antonelli is seventh, just in front of his teammate, the British George Russell, eighth.
Alonso uncertain for this Grand Prix
As announced earlier in the day, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) did not participate in this session, due to a muscle injury located at the level of the back. The double world champion is not sure to be present for the rest of this Hungarian competition weekend. In the meantime, for these EL1s, it was the Brazilian reserve pilot Felipe Drugovich who replaced him and signed the sixteenth time. Another rookie rolled in this session.
This is Paul Aron. The Estonian, 20th and last, carried out his second rod with Kick Sauber, settling in the Germanic Nico Hülkenberg. Regarding the French, if Hadjar has therefore finished fourth, Esteban Ocon (Haas) signed the twelfth best time, just in front of his compatriot Pierre Gasly (Alpine), thirteenth.
