Olympique Lyonnais will play the 8th finals of the Europa League despite the draw conceded Thursday evening against Ludogorets (1-1).
Sixth in the ranking of the Europa League league phase on the evening of the eighth and last day, Olympique Lyonnais was not really smiling after having conceded
An almost lucky draw at Groupama Stadium against Ludogorets (1-1). The players of Jorge Maciel, temporary coach since the layoff of Pierre Sage announced earlier this week, were tossed by a team without the slightest victory in this European campaign.
Throughout the match, the possession of the ball was rather in favor of the Gones (57%), but the number of opportunities was practically identical for the two teams (eight shots on fourteen for OL, six out of fifteen for visitors). No goal in the first period with Lyonnais who nevertheless had two fantastic opportunities, but Sergio Padt carried out a parade from elsewhere against Corentin Tolisso (25th) before reoffending on an attempt by Ernest Nuamah (35th).
Lucas Perri does miracles
Everything will finally move during the second act, this time with a duel won by Tolisso facing the opposing goalkeeper (1-0, 54th). But while the Lyon supporters thought their team finally launched, a defensive error on the left side of the defense will allow Dinis Almeida to equalize (1-1, 77th). And without a masterful intervention by Lucas Perri at the very end of the game on a plunging head by Aguibou Camara (90th+1), OL could even have lost.
The draw (1-1) is therefore a lesser evil for Lyonnais who will certainly be delighted not to have to go through the dams of February and who will be able to quietly wait for the continuation of the events next March with regard to the Europa League.
