OM, first big tile

Hard blow for OM. Less than 24 hours after their offensive demonstration against Ajax Amsterdam (4-0) in the Champions League (2nd day), Olympique de Marseille has to face bad news. Indeed, Facundo Medina will be absent from the land for several weeks.

The Argentinian central defender, replaced in the 36th minute by CJ Egan-Riley, suffers from a sprain on the right ankle. According to the official press release, its unavailability is estimated at around two months, or a dozen matches in all competitions. A significant loss for OM, especially since Medina had already been embarrassed by an injury to the other ankle at the start of the season, delaying its official beginnings against Lorient on September 12 (4-0).

A return to Lens missed

For his part, Roberto de Zerbi will have to rethink his central hinge. Several solutions are possible: Benjamin Pavard, Nayef Aguerd, CJ Egan-Riley or Leonardo Balerdi, the latter being expected operational for the trip to Metz, Saturday (5 p.m.) for the 7th day of Ligue 1.

This absence falls at a crucial moment of the season and deprives OM of a key element for determining meetings. Medina will notably miss the return to Bollaert on October 25 against Lens, as well as two Champions League matches: against Sporting on October 22 and Atalanta on November 5.
