This Saturday, during the first semi-final of the Rolex Paris Masters, Félix Auger-Aliassime dominated Alexander Bublik in two sets. The Canadian will try to offer himself a first Masters 1000 on Sunday against Alexander Zverev or Jannik Sinner.
Decidedly, Auger-Aliassime is finishing the year 2025 very strongly. Indeed, semi-finalist of the US Open then titled more recently in Brussels, the Canadian qualified this Saturday for the final of the Rolex Paris Masters. Opposed to Alexander Bublik at the Paris La Défense Arena, the world number 10 won in two sets (7-6, 6-4) and 1h38 of play. Sunday, “FAA” will play its second final at a Masters 1000, after the one lost in April 2024 in Madrid against Andrey Rublev (4-6, 7-5, 7-5).
For this, Auger-Aliassime initially had to wait and wait for the decisive game during the first round, the two players having failed to obtain the slightest break point during the first twelve games. During the tie-break, Bublik broke first and left two points en route on his serve, enough to offer the first set to the Canadian (7-3), who was not asking for so much.
And now, Sinner or Zverev in the final?
With his back to the wall and forced to react during this first semi-final of the Rolex Paris Masters, the Kazakhstani started the second set well and even led 4-1, having taken his opponent’s service twice. Unfortunately for him and his supporters, the 16th in the world was unable to keep his lead to restart this match. Indeed, astonishingly, Auger-Aliassime finally caught up before taking the lead by scoring four games in a row. Behind, on his serve, the Canadian validated his ticket for the final of the Masters 1000 in Paris.
Still as formidable on hard indoor, “FAA” (25 years old) will therefore aim on Sunday to win the best title of his young career against, whatever happens, a serious client. Because, to win at the Paris La Défense Arena, the 10th in the world, who is 6th or 8th next Monday, will now have to beat either the German and defending champion Alexander Zverev, or the Italian Jannik Sinner, who could take back 1st place in the ATP rankings. Suffice to say that the show should be there.
