While he has been playing on the PGA Tour since 2024, Victor Perez has decided to join LIV Golf starting next year. He will thus become the first Frenchman to join the circuit financed by Saudi Arabia.
Not yet sure of being able to keep his card on the PGA Tour, where he has been playing since 2024, Victor Perez has decided for his future. Indeed, as announced Tuesday on social networks, the Frenchman will join LIV Golf from 2026. While he was fighting at the end of the year to be among the first 100 in the American circuit rankings, the native of Tarbes (33 years old) will join the dissident circuit financed by Saudi Arabia and will play for the Cleeks (with Martin Kaymer, Adrian Meronk and Richard Bland).
“Joining Cleeks Golf Club for the 2026 season is entering the next chapter of golf. LIV Golf is revolutionizing this sport, with its energy, ambition and innovation. I can’t wait to make my debut in Riyadh,” explained Perez, who will therefore become the first Frenchman to play in LIV Golf, in comments collected by L’Équipe.
Perez: “A huge opportunity”
“For me, it was really a huge opportunity. I have followed LIV Golf with interest since the beginning, and I have always believed in what the league is trying to build to grow golf. Plus, I’ve always loved the team format so I’m really looking forward to joining the Cleeks next year. (…) When the opportunity presented itself this season, everything came together quite quickly,” the Frenchman subsequently admitted, on the official website of the French Golf Federation.
“It’s a personal decision that I respect. (…) As a golf enthusiast, I am also happy for him because LIV Golf is a very competitive circuit, which brings together some of the best players in the world. (…) By playing on a circuit of such a level, he will inevitably face opponents who will allow him to raise his level of play, so I think it is a good choice, and I support it,” declared Pascal Grizot, the president of the Federation.
