While he had been training for eight years in a private structure, Alexis Pinturault has found the France group for this Olympic season, which will only compete in the giant. He confided in our colleagues from the Dauphiné.
While summer has settled on a large part of France, the next winter is already in the minds of the best French skiers, who resumed training this week in Deux-Alpes. A winter all the more important as it will be marked by the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games in February. And for the first time since 2017, Alexis Pinturault was very present within the technical group of the French team, while he had been training before, during the most beautiful period of his career, within a private structure.
But the 34 -year -old skier is ready to adapt, as he confides in an interview with Dauphiné. “I already knew some (coaches like Kevin Page, Roman Velez and his former personal coach Maxime Tissot) with whom I have already worked in the past. I discover Mathias (Rolland) and Thomas (master), I know them less. He will necessarily have to get to know each other, find our cruising pace. I am like any person who arrives in a group, I have to find my balance a little with each other. We make meetings where we explain a little what we like, what we like less. For the moment everything is going well. »»
Pinturault: “To make this choice of the giant is to go towards simplicity”
Victim of a fracture of the right knee tibial plateau last January in Kitzbühel, Alexis Pinturault has a little work in front of him, but ensures that it is better and better. “Physically it’s okay, much better than a month ago. And I still need to work because all these accumulated shortcomings, you have to blur them and it is not done in a few weeks. There I am starting to have fewer and fewer discomforts. The muscular tears that I could have in tendon handicap me less and less, which allows me to be able to slowly resume the supports, the ploometry. This was not the case there are two more, three weeks, ”he admits.
For the 2025-26 season, Alexis Pinturault decided to devote himself solely to giant slalom so as not to shoot the rope too much. “For me, making this choice of the giant is going to simplicity. To do only one discipline is also to focus on the essentials. You have to be honest, I am 34 years old, I will not yet do 50 seasons (sic). I will not build a return to three different disciplines suddenly. The idea is to go as quickly as possible, focusing on a single discipline, and suddenly by maximizing these chances of being efficient and in particular with the ambition of the Olympic Games which will finally arrive quite quickly. And why not get a fourth Olympic medal?
