Driving professionals denounce a “Dramatic shortage” of examination places for the driving license, in a press release accessed Monday July 7 by the Radio France agency. Organizations representative of driving schools (Mobilans, Unidec and Unic) require immediate measures this summer.

They denounce “A critical situation impacting all 12,700 driving schools in activity on the territory, as well as hundreds of thousands of candidates”. “In 2024, 1.567 million examination places were proposed. It would take at least 2.19 million in 2025 to deal with the increase in the number of young people concerned, in particular due to the reform lowering the age of the license”they underline.

Professionals also denounce strong territorial inequalities resulting in “Breaking of blatant equality between candidates according to their place of residence”. In the absence of available examination slots, some students are forced to accumulate and finance up to 37 hours of driving or even 60 hours in certain departments to present themselves for the first time and as much in the event of failure.

In addition to requesting the significant increase in the number of examination places, professional organizations offer measures in order to “Fluidifying the system”d ‘“Improve the success of candidates” By enhancing the minimum volume of hours before the examination, to review the evaluation grid, to lower the age of early learning for more progressive training or even “to create a temporary traffic certificate to avoid blocking situations”. They also suggest strengthening the workforce of inspectors or to expand the use of examiners.

Professionals ask to be received by François-Noël Buffet, Minister to the Minister of the Interior. “Otherwise, professional organizations plan to launch a major movement in Paris from the start of the school year”they warn.
