Judges of investigation have ordered a lawsuit against the current Minister of Culture Rachida Dati so that it is tried in particular for “corruption and passive influence traffic by person invested with an elective public mandate within an international organization (European Parliament)” within the framework of the Carlos Ghosn case, indicates on Tuesday, July 22, a judicial source in Franceinfo. The former boss of Renault-Nissan is also referred to justice.
The Minister of Culture is also referred to justice for “concealment of abuse of power” and “breach of trust”. Carlos Ghosn is sent back for “abuse of powers by company manager”, “breach of trust” and “corruption and active influence traffic”. The dates of the hearing will not be set until September 29, a judicial source in Franceinfo said.
In its indictment, signed in November 2024, the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) had asked that the Minister of Culture be judged in particular for corruption and passive influence traffic by person invested with a public elective mandate within an international organization, the European Parliament. The PNF had also requested a trial against the former boss of Renault-Nissan, Carlos Ghosn, who lives in Lebanon and has been the subject of an international arrest warrant since 2023 in this case, for corruption and active influence traffic in particular.
Parisian investigation judges have been looking at a contract signed on October 28, 2009 between Rachida Dati and RNBV, a subsidiary of the Renault-Nissan alliance, since 2019. The minister, 59, is suspected of having received 900,000 euros between 2010 and 2012 for consulting services with a fee agreement, but without having really worked, while she was a lawyer and European deputy (2009-2019). In its indictment, the financial prosecutor’s office considered that this contract “was the legal covering of a patent corrupting pact”.
For PNF magistrates, the former Keeper of the Seals of Nicolas Sarkozy A “advised the Renault group in promoting its rights and interests to the European Parliament”. She is suspected of having “Taken in favor of favorable positions” to the manufacturer and “Used from its real or supposed influence to carry out lobbying actions”.
