Suspected of rape in the Schumacher family home in Switzerland, the Australian driver invited by Mick Schumacher has been identified.
The mask fell after the Daily Mail’s revelations about a dark case of alleged rape that occurred in November 2019 in the Schumachers’ Swiss family chalet, in Gland. While he was due to appear before the Swiss courts today, suspect number one was identified on the Web by sleuths.
Featured in the press as a friend of Mick Schumacher – the former’s son seven-time F1 world champion – the individual in question is himself a driver, of Australian nationality, aged 30 or almost, and has claimed in the past a seat in the elite of motor racing. Above all, the person concerned is currently serving a suspension for doping.
This last clue did not fail to tighten the grip on the person of Joseph Mawson, says Joey – a 29-year-old native of Sydney currently double Australian S5000 champion. The Swiss media 24 Hours today confirmed the affair, and the complaint of a nurse who at the time worked for the Schumacher family.
A consensual relationship according to the accused
It was at the end of a drunken evening, in the absence of members of the Schumacher family, that the latter was allegedly sexually abused on two occasions, after feeling unwell. The complainant discovered the horror the day after the incident after a conversation with the alleged perpetrator. However, for fear of losing her job, the young woman did not file a complaint before January 2022.
The accused, who did not appear at the Nyon court this Wednesday – and who has not given any news for several weeks – formally denies having raped Michael Schumacher’s nurse. Interviewed by investigators, the pilot admitted to having had sexual relations with the complainant that evening but with the consent of the latter according to him.
