RATP should keep the operation of three -quarters of the bus lines open to competition In the third wave of allocation launched by the Ile-de-France transport authority, Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), she announced on Tuesday June 24. Its competitor Keolis is expected to win the operation of 29 bus lines and a tram line on the former historic monopoly of the RATP. Since the start of the opening process to competition, the RATP has won around two thirds of the lines involved.

The allocation of these public service delegations is subject to validation of the IDFM board of directors, which must be held in early July. During the second wave, the RATP had lost 37 lines out of 56 in favor of Transdev and the Milanese operator ATM. This time, the historic operator is doing much better, managing in particular to get their hands on the second largest batch, that of the Bus of La Défense and Saint-Cloud. It represents 38 bus lines, around 2,200 agents and nearly 220 million euros in annual turnover.

The batch recovered by Keolis is also important since it serves the municipalities of Ivry-sur-Seine, Vitry-sur-Seine, Orly and the districts of the south of Paris, i.e. 28 bus lines plus the future Tzen5 (a high level of service bus between Paris and Choisy-le-Roi) and the T9 tramway. This represents 1,700 RATP agents which will be transferred to the SNCF subsidiary. The whole lot weighs for 190 million euros annually, according to a source close to the file. The other two lots allocated to Cap Ile -de -France – the RATP subsidiary dedicated to the operation of the buses subject to competition – each represent around 160 million euros in annual turnover.

For travelers on the other hand, nothing should change since the lines remain the same, as are prices and subscription cards, managed by IDFM.
