The criminal chamber specializing in the examination of terrorism cases at the Tunis Court of Appeal has rejected, in form, the appeal brought by Ahmed Néjib Chebbi, in the so-called case of conspiracy against state security, indicated, Monday, December 29, 2025, a judicial source at Tap.
Implicated for almost three years on charges linked to an alleged terrorist conspiracy and a plot against state security, Ahmed Néjib Chebbi was definitively sentenced on November 28 to a twelve-year prison term, then arrested on December 4. The Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered his detention, in accordance with the above-mentioned judicial decision.
The lawyer and emblematic figure of the Tunisian political scene opposed the judgment rendered, refusing to be part of what he describes as a judicial scenario constructed to respond to a logic of settling political scores.
Affirming that the charges against him lack credibility, including for those who bring them, he assured that his trial is above all political and that its outcome cannot be dissociated from this context.
