In the kitchens, the glass gradually comes back, dethroning the plastic. The Pyrex company, known for its glass dishes, saw its sales up 5% in 2024.
Within a supermarket department, glass dishes are taking up more and more space next to the plastic containers. If some hesitate in the face of the less affordable price of glass, other consumers favor plastic without asking questions. “I prefer to put more expensive for glass. It’s easier to clean”explains a store client.
Resistant in time, glass was a material that was on the rise, before being robbed of the show by plastic in the 1970s. Today, the trend is reversed: plastic is no longer fantastic. The Pyrex glass manufacturer has seen its sales increase by 5% in 2024. However, inflation and energy prices have not advantaged the sector in recent years.
