The Tunis company for the Rapid Rail Network (RFR) announced, in a press release published Monday, November 3, 2025, the temporary closure of part of rue Taïeb Mhiri — between rue Bach Hamba and rue Jugurtha — in both directions, for a period of six months starting Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 1 a.m. This measure is part of the completion of work on section D of the rapid rail network.
According to the company, a diversion plan has been put in place in coordination with local authorities and traffic services:
- For motorists coming from Place du Bardo towards Mellasine via rue Taïeb Mhiri, it will be possible to take the National Health Insurance Fund (Cnam) access towards Avenue de la République, then turn left towards rue Taïeb Mhiri towards Mellasine.
- For those traveling from Mellasine towards Place du Bardo, they can turn right towards Avenue de la Liberté towards Rue du 20 Mars 1956, or continue straight and turn right onto Rue Jugurtha to join the same artery.
- The temporary closure also concerns the adjacent secondary streets on the side of rue Taïeb Mhiri towards Place du Bardo, namely streets Farhat Hached, Larbi Zarrouk and 13 Août (rue de la Municipalité), until the end of the work.
The RFR company calls on all road users to exercise caution, reduce their speed and respect the signs installed in the work zone in order to avoid any risk of accident or congestion.
