Romain Grosjean, separation announced

The Lamborghini team, which no longer participates in the world endurance championship, has announced that the contract of its French driver Romain Grosjean will not be renewed at the end of this year. His future in motor sports remains uncertain.

Aged 39, Romain Grosjean finds himself free from any commitment. After three years spent with the Lamborghini team, the French driver saw his three-year contract not be renewed. In 2023, then engaged in Indycar, the native of Geneva joined the Italian manufacturer in order to participate in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in parallel.

He notably finished 4th in the 24 Hours of Daytona during his first season, then 13th in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last season, but Lamborghini then decided to leave the WEC at the end of 2024, not having the capacity to enter two cars in the Hypercar category.

Romain Grosjean, 13th then 17th in the IncyCar championship for the last two seasons, took part this year in the IMSA SportsCar championship, the American endurance championship. He had participated in five of the nine races of the season, notably finishing 4th in the “Petit Le Mans”, a ten-hour race taking place near Atlanta.

But next year, the former F1 driver will no longer wear the colors of Lamborghini. “From his first laps at Almeria in 2023, when he officially drove the Lamborghini SC63 for the first time, until the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024, his journey has been punctuated by emotions and milestones,” writes the Italian manufacturer in a press release.

This continued into the 2025 IMSA season, culminating at Road Atlanta, where the team earned a well-deserved fourth place finish, a testament to their resilience, growth and determination. But it’s time to say goodbye… Thank you, Romain, for the passion, talent and commitment you brought to the track with us. See you soon on the asphalt! » To date, Romain Grosjean, who will commentate on the Brazilian F1 Grand Prix for Canal+ this weekend, is not engaged in any competition for 2026.
