As of this Friday, August 1, your savings could pay you less. This is particularly the case, like 4 in 5 French people, you have a booklet A, because its interest rate evolves, going from 2.4 % to 1.7 %. At the same time, the rate of the popular savings book drops 3.5 % to 2.7 %. Lases which are explained in particular by the slowdown in inflation, fell to 0.88 % in the first half of 2025.

Opposite trend with regard to your energy bills. 5.5 % VAT on gas and electricity is over. From now on, this tax goes to 20 %, which could have a real impact on your bills. A measure which should bring in the state 1.5 billion euros, according to the government.

Also note that from today, Enedis will charge you 6.28 euros additional every two months if you have not replaced your old counter with a Linky: more than 2 million households are concerned.

Finally, good news: if you are one of the 13 million French people who paid too much tax, this Friday corresponds to the deadline for tax reimbursements. On average, concerned are reimbursed by 1,017 euros.
