French rally legend Sébastien Loeb has made a big announcement a month and a half before his participation in the Dakar.
In search of a first victory on the Dakar, Sébastien Loeb will try his luck for the tenth time, from January 3 to 17, 2026, in the desert of Saudi Arabia, for the 48th edition. But before fully focusing on the big objective of his season, the nine-time world rally champion will return to French roads.
After his rally-raid victory in Morocco, the Alsatian will participate in the Rallye du Var, the last round of the French Championship. The event will take place on November 28 and 29 near Sainte-Maxime.
“ Head to the Rallye du Var », simply wrote this Friday the French rally legend on his X account (ex-Twitter). The latter will be at the wheel of the Alpine A110 GT+ and will have his partner, Laurène Godey, as co-driver.
Loeb record holder of the event
As a reminder, Sébastien Loeb holds the record for victories in the Rallye du Var. He won in 2000, 2009, 2014 and 2019, the date of his last participation with Hyundai at the time.
In a twist of fate, at the same time, from November 27 to 30, Sébastien Ogier will have the opportunity to equal Sébastien Loeb’s 9 WRC world titles. The Toyota driver is three points behind his teammate, Elfyn Evans, before the last event in Saudi Arabia.
