A bill is debated so that tenants exceeding the resource ceiling of their HLM accommodation pay a rent supplement. Beyond a certain threshold, they could also leave their HLM.
For the past four years, a retiree has rented HLM accommodation with his wife. It is a house of 50 square meters, located at the gates of Lille (North). His rent, which amounts to 450 euros with charges, could soon climb. In a few years, the couple’s pensions have increased to the resource ceiling of around 30,000 euros, set to obtain this type of accommodation. This exceeding could be worth to the couple an additional rent, according to a debate bill.
To obtain an HLM, a cleaning must respect a resource ceiling. His lessor can ask him for a rent supplement if his income increases and exceeds 20% of this ceiling. This supplement would apply from 1East Euro surpassing with this bill. The wealthiest tenants should also leave their accommodation if their resources exceed 120% of the ceiling. “It is legitimate to ask these people who have the means to release their accommodation,” estimates the deputy Stéphane Vojetta, rapporteur of the text.
