The draw for the ATP Masters took place this Thursday, and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner will be in Alexander Zverev’s group, while Carlos Alcaraz will be in Novak Djokovic’s group, if the Serbian plays in Turin.
The ATP Masters in Turin will begin this Sunday, and we still do not know who is the 8th qualifier or if Novak Djokovic will participate in the prestigious tournament, but the draw still took place this Thursday at midday. The eight best players of the year 2025 were divided into two groups: “Jimmy Connors” and “Bjorn Borg”.
Title holder and world No. 1 this week (but he will no longer be next week because he will have lost the 1,500 points from his victory last year), Jannik Sinner has been placed in the “Borg” group and will challenge Alexander Zverev (5-4 for Sinner in the confrontations), Ben Shelton (7-1) and Felix Auger-Aliassime (3-2) or Lorenzo Musetti (3-0). The latter must absolutely win the ATP 250 in Athens on Saturday to get the last ticket for the Masters, while the Canadian, physically diminished, gave up the Metz tournament, after his great week at the Rolex Paris Masters, where he reached the final.
Will Djokovic face Alcaraz?
Sinner’s great rival, Carlos Alcaraz, will face Novak Djokovic (5-4 for the Serbian in the confrontations), Taylor Fritz (4-1 for the Spaniard) and Alex De Minaur (4-0 for the Spaniard) during the group stage. The Serbian, however, made it known on Tuesday evening after entering the competition in Athens that he would decide at the end of the Greek tournament whether he would play the Masters (for which he qualified for the 18th time, like the now co-record holder Roger Federer), while the president of the Italian Tennis Federation had assured the day before that the Serbian’s presence was certain.
If Novak Djokovic ever decides to withdraw, it will be Lorenzo Musetti or Felix Auger-Aliassime who will replace him, while Alexander Bublik will have the status of second replacement. The British Jack Draper has more points than the Kazakh in the Race, but stopped his season after the US Open due to an arm injury. Winners of the four Grand Slam tournaments of the season, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the two huge favorites to meet in the final on November 16 in the capital of Piedmont.
