Southern entrance to Tunis: the Ministry of Equipment denies any damage to the structure

The Ministry of Equipment and Housing denied, in a press release published Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the information relayed in certain media and on social networks reporting damage to a structure located at the southern entrance to the capital.

According to the ministerial department, the structure concerned, located on regional road no. 24, near the entrance to Laknia, did not suffer any structural damage. The ministry ensures that the structure is “safe and solid” and thus aims to reassure road users as to its condition.

Surface damage linked to rainwater

The images broadcast in a widely shared video correspond, according to the explanations provided, to localized surface scouring affecting the backfill materials and the shoulders of the roadway. This surface damage would be due to the flow of rainwater, in a context where the rainwater protection and drainage work has not yet been completely completed.

The ministry specifies that the company responsible for carrying out the project intervened immediately to carry out the necessary maintenance operations. He adds that once the security and rainwater drainage work is finalized, any risk of potential deterioration will be eliminated.

Reaffirming its vigilance, the Ministry of Equipment underlines its commitment to monitoring the quality of execution of road projects, in accordance with the standards in force, in order to guarantee the safety of users. He also calls for information to be verified with official sources before its dissemination.
