Posting a letter is a gesture that will cost you more next year. La Poste announced Monday that its prices will increase on January 1, 2026. For a green letter, for example, it will take 1.52 euros against 1.39 euros today. “I accept, but I consider that for elderly people who need this, who are not used to the Internet and who do not have necessarily unlimited means, it’s still a little expensive”reacts a resident.
The registered letter also increases. It will cost you more than 6 euros. More expensive parcels also, which will increase by 3.4 %. Some already think of turning to competition: “Indeed, I would have to go if it becomes too expensive”says a man. A woman confirms: “For packages, I went to see the competition, which is very good. I realized after it was cheaper”she explains.
For its part, the public group justifies this increase in prices by maintaining a high quality of service in the face of the drop in sending letters by the French. But this is not the opinion of a consumer association. La Poste’s turnover fell by 500 million euros last year.
