Could we one day see Tadej Pogacar take on the Tour de France, the Giro and the Vuelta? The Slovenian delivered a response that is sure to provoke a reaction.
The year 2025 will remain engraved in the history of cycling and that of Tadej Pogacar. Untouchable or almost, the UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider left only crumbs to his opponents, with the exception of the time trial world title won by his great rival Remco Evenepoel. With 20 victories on the clock, the Slovenian has flown through the season.
From the UAE Tour to the Tour of Lombardy, via the Tour de France and the World Championships, Pogacar returned to this exceptional exercise in the documentary “Tadej Pogacar, The People’s Champion” (The People’s Champion), produced by Sky Sports Italia. The double world champion talks in particular about the race that continues to make him dream: Paris-Roubaix.
“Of course, I have many fond memories of several races, but I will mention one that I did not win, but in which I participated for the first time in my life: Paris-Roubaix, an indescribable classic and truly unique in its kind”he says.
Giro and Vuelta, Pogacar says yes
At 27, Pogacar also won his fourth Tour de France last July. An ordeal as grandiose as it is grueling. “During these three weeks, we really give everything. We enjoy every day, but we are also extremely tired. When I made certain statements during last year’s Tour, they were taken at a bad time.”he admits lucidly.
After a Tour de France perfectly mastered by him and his team, a question persists: could Pogacar aim for the three Grand Tours in the same year? The Slovenian excludes nothing.
“In addition to the 21 stages each, there are also all the training courses… way too many days away from home! But never say never: maybe one day I’ll try to do all the Grand Tours in a single year. » The peloton has been warned.
