The French will be able to submit their 2024 income declaration to the taxman from April 10, the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFIP) announced on Monday March 17. The closing date of the declaration campaign has not yet been stopped, the DGFIP told AFP. It varies depending on the place of residence or the method of declaration chosen, paper or online. To take into account inflation, the sections of the income tax scale were revalued by 1.8% this year.
This usual revaluation is used to prevent certain taxpayers who have seen their income or their salary increase due to inflation becoming taxable. This progressive scale, which is used to calculate the tax level of each household, has several tranches having a tax rate ranging from 0% for income up to 11,497 euros, to 45% for those exceeding 180,294 euros. According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, this measure allows 619,000 taxpayers not to become taxable.
