2025 will have been an exceptional year for the harvest of scallops. 70 % of the shells consumed in France were caught in Normandy.

When spring arrives in Port-en-Bessin-Huppain (Normandy), it is a long fishing season which mostly ends boats. At the edge of the quays, the last shells are still tearing out on the market, but in a few hours, the fishing campaign will be closed in the Seine bay. Fortunately for consumers, the harvest was abundant off Normandy.

This year again, the deposits broke historical records. The result of good management of the resource with in particular the implementation of a fallow system which requires boats to change the fishing area each year. In 2025, 70 % of French shells were caught in the region. The scalloped shell will officially end on May 14 in the entire Manche fishing area.
