France Télévisions continues its trip to Africa as close as possible to wild fauna. Meeting with Valentin, 29, Safari guide and a black leopard named Guiza. All this in a reserve in Kenya.
In Kenya, Valentin Lavis, 29, has supported tourists during expeditions to Africa since 2021. “I was lucky that my parents take me for the first time in South Africa when I was 5 years old and after, I caught this virus for African fauna that never left me”says Valentin, Safari guide. And among these animals, there is one in particular that fascinates him: the leopard.
Leopards are classified vulnerable species. The world’s population has decreased by a third in the past 20 years. “My role during the safari is to try to find the best possible positioning to make good images without disturbing animals”, explains Valentin, who is also an animal photographer. Among the leopards, there is one which is extremely rare: the black leopard. To observe it, you have to wait until nightfall, the time it goes to hunt.
