Shein is determined to retain its French customers. The executive chairman of the Asian company, Donald Tang, assured the“unwavering commitment to respecting all French laws” of his company, in a letter sent on Wednesday November 5 to Serge Papin, Minister of Commerce. The boss also proposes a meeting with the French authorities in order to present the “compliance framework” And “firm and immediate measures” taken by the e-commerce giant. The Minister of Commerce’s team has not yet indicated whether this request had been accepted.
Shein is the subject of a suspension procedure in France after the discovery, on its site, of child-like sex dolls and category A weapons. The group, founded in China but based in Singapore, has until Friday to bring its site into compliance by removing the banned products. “We take your concerns with the utmost seriousness”said the company boss in his letter. “We intend to create the necessary conditions to work closely with you and the relevant authorities, ensuring that the corrective measures we put in place are both robust and transparent”he continues in this missive.
