The Paloise section has formalized the arrival of three new players for the next seasons: Thomas Laclayat, Julian Montoya and Facundo Isa.
For seven years, the Paloise section had not finished so high in the ranking. The Palois finished eighth in the regular season and will therefore play in Champions Cup next season. A 2025-26 season when they hope to do even better. And for that, they are counting on the three recruits whose name was formalized this Wednesday.
“We led a very targeted, very qualitative recruitment, only on the 8 front to homogenize our pack of forwards, to make it more harsh and more conquering. Above all, this recruitment is based on a workforce in continuity: in terms of leadership and depth in the position, ”explains manager Sébastien Piquronies.
The French International Law pillar (1 selection) of 27 years Thomas Laclayat has signed up until June 2027, coming from Racing 92, where he has spent the last two seasons (42 games, 6 trials all competitions). “Thomas is a pillar that will allow us to pass a course and homogenize our two sides of the fray. With him and our first line, we have the ambition to have a conquest which remains conquering, stable and durable, ”hopes Pédronies.
Two Pumas among the Palois
The captain of Argentina, the 31 -year -old hooker Julian Montoya, will also wear the green and white jersey from next season, and until 2028. He has just spent four seasons in Leicester (79 games, 29 tests), where he was crowned champion of England in 2022, and lost in the final this year. “Julian is an experienced international jousting hooker, an assertive and obvious leader. He will come to densify our static phases, he is one more leader in the package of forwards, “said him the Palois manager. Finally, another Argentinian inflates the ranks of the section. This is Facundo Isa, the third line of 31 years, which had been the colors of Toulon since 2017 (155 games, 39 trials).
