The decree lowering the right to progressive retirement to 60 years old against 62 years currently was published Wednesday July 23 at Official Journal With an entry into force on September 1. The insured persons relating to the general regime, special schemes and in particular the public service regime, the regime of employees and agricultural service regime and old-age insurance regimes for liberal professions and lawyers, are concerned. These provisions “will apply to pensions taking effect from September 1, 2025”.
This measure is from a series of agreements signed in the fall of 2024 between MEDEF, employers’ side, the CFDT and the CFTC, on the unions side, one of which focused on the employment of seniors and provided in particular to promote progressive, not very widespread pensions.
This system, which therefore becomes accessible from the age of 60, allows employees to benefit from a fraction of their retirement while exercising a reduced professional activity, in order to continue to improve their retirement rights. To take advantage of it, the employee must have contributed for retirement for at least 150 quarters. “The end of career should no longer be scary and strictly binary – full time or nothing – but on the contrary adapt to the desires and needs of each while promoting the maintenance in employment as long as possible”estimated the Minister responsible for Labor and Employment Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet to AFP.
