Will the French scandal of child pornography dolls and weapons sold on Shein affect the company abroad? The European Union “shares concerns” of France and takes the case “very seriously”declared Thursday, November 6, Thomas Regnier, a spokesperson for the European Commission.
“A platform that allows the sale of pornographic content or weapons on its service does not correspond to EU standards, EU values and EU laws”also estimated Thomas Regnier during a press conference. The Commission has “took note” of France’s decision to initiate a procedure to suspend the site and recalls that it was taken “on the basis of French law”. “We are in contact with Shein and we will be in contact today with the French authorities”the spokesperson said, adding that the Commission had written to the Chinese company. The spokesperson stated that “next steps” could be taken.
