The French at the qualifying meeting



A few days after revealing the entry list for the main draw for the 2026 edition of the Australian Open (January 18 – February 1, 2026), the organizers have this time revealed the names of those who will have to work hard to try to offer themselves a potential sesame for this first Grand Slam of the season via the qualifications, which will begin on January 12.

The 2026 tennis season is about to begin and all eyes are on the first major event of the year: the Australian Open. While the entry list for the main draw was announced a few weeks ago, the French Tennis Federation recently revealed the two winners of the wild card.

And, it is Kyrian Jacquet and Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah who will directly access the main draw of the competition as part of the reciprocal agreement between the French federation and the Australian tennis federation, allowing the French authorities to choose an additional participant for each draw. Thus, it still remained to reveal the names of those who will participate, from January 12, in the qualifying table with the hope of gleaning a ticket for this first Grand Slam of the season.

There will be 22 in the running

Between known and lesser known faces, there will be 22, 11 men and 11 women to take part in these qualifications. As for the men’s table, Ugo Blanchet (142nd), Titouan Droguet (147th), Pierre-Hugues Herbert (154th), Harold Mayot (162nd) and Luca Van Assche (167th) will be the highest ranked French players in these qualifications. The other French representatives in this male table will be: Hugo Grenier (173rd), Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg (193rd), Dan Added (194th), Clément Tabur (201st), Luka Pavlovic (221st) and finally Arthur Géa (229th).

On the women’s side of the table, it will be Diane Parry (124th) who will arrive with the best ranking. Among the other French contenders, we will notably find Jessika Ponchet (170th), Carole Monnet (173rd), Alice Rame (196th), Manon Léonard (202nd), Harmony Tan (219th) and Selena Janicijevic (215th). For their part, Fiona Ferro (173rd), Kristina Mladenovic (198th) and Alice Tubello (221st) all three activated their protected ranking in order to be able to be there for these qualifications. They will nevertheless have to win three matches in a row to hope to obtain their ticket. Finally, the beautiful story concerns the young Ksenia Efremova. Currently 736th in the WTA rankings, the 16-year-old player benefited from a wild card to allow her to also participate in these qualifications.
