The window of the MaPrimeRénov’ energy renovation aid system will be suspended from January 1, Parliament having failed to find a compromise on the budget, confirmed the Minister of Housing on Sunday December 2. “I said it: no budget, no ticket office“declared Vincent Jeanbrun in “Dimanche en politique” on France 3.
He justified this halt by the absence of a voted budget for 2026, which must be compensated by a special law, extending only part of the expenditure voted for the previous year. “We hoped to be able to restart with full speed in January, having properly dimensioned the entire system, but indeed with a special law, that will not be possible, so we will not be able to reopen the counter”he added.
“In fact, the special law is not a budget, it is a kind of patch which does not allow everything to be blocked, but which, on the other hand, blocks any non-contractual expenditure”explained the minister. “Without a budget, we will not be able to disburse the money”he clarified. “So we are not going to open a window and say ‘submit your applications and then we will tell you in two months, in three months if we are able to finance them or not’. That would not make sense.” In this context, Vincent Jeanbrun called for the adoption of a budget “as quickly as possible”.
