In the Franceinfo Talk, journalist Virginie Le Guay criticizes Medef for having contributed to the failure of the conclave supposed to relaunch pension reform. A criticism which comes as the suspension of the text reactivates tensions around social dialogue.

“MEDEF really caused the conclave to fail”estimates journalist Virginie Le Guay in the Franceinfo Talk on Thursday, November 13. For the editorialist, the employers’ protests against the suspension of the pension reform are part of the “hypocrisy“, in view of its role in the aborted negotiations last year.

She criticizes the position of Medef, believing that its president, Patrick Martin, could not today say he was “stunned” to see the removal of the reform adopted by a majority. “I would like to point out their total hypocrisy”, she declared.

According to her, the employers’ organization bears a decisive share of responsibility for the failure of the “conclave” organized the previous year to try to find a compromise between government, unions and social partners. “You need to know a little about what Medef wants.”she added, recalling that this round of negotiations, conducted under the aegis of François Bayrou, had come up against the employers’ refusal to commit further to adjustments to the retirement system.

Virginie Le Guay believes that this failure weighs heavily today in the current situation, while the suspension of the text reactivates criticism and uncertainties around the future of the pay-as-you-go system.
