The state sanctioned 13 habitat, one of the main social landlords in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, Friday July 25, for “persistent dysfunctions” noted in the maintenance of several sets in the Notre-Dame des sailors district, in Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône), reports Franceinfo.

Juliette Méadel, Minister Delegate in charge of the City, announced on Friday during a press conference at the Prefecture of Marseille the suspension for this social landlord of the property tax allowance on the built properties, public aid reserved for social landlords in order to ensure the maintenance of the common areas of the residences.

After having visited HLM across France, the minister found that 13 habitat was the only social landlord to have not set up sufficient responses to improve the living conditions of residents of the Notre-Dame des sailors district in Martigues. Juliette Méadel returned to visit this residence on Friday morning, and the inhabitants told her about the persistent problems of cleanliness, maintenance of stairwells and elevators, or mold in apartments and cracks on the walls. The aid suspended by the State for the social landlord 13 Habitat in this district represents an amount estimated at 130,000 euros.
