Since January, 52.7 million liters of alcohol -free beer have been sold, over 9.5 % in one year. A success such as more and more specialized brands open in France.
In a shop, there are forty references of alcohol -free beers. And in recent weeks, the boss has been robbed. A success that Peter May, manager of the parallel in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), had underestimated. “I had left on an estimate of 150 to 200 beers, all confused, over a month and a half of activity. I practically doubled the volume, mainly on blond beers where I made my first restorations. But I have already planned to recommend at the end of August to have stock in early September”he explains.
Alcohol-free drinks promise to be better for health, but are they really? For Jean-Michel Cohen, nutritionist, you have to pay attention to the sugar content. “The temptation for the manufacturer is to make products that are attractive enough. And to improve the product, you can be tempted to add sugar inside. This is why the sugar content of the product will be the discriminating element to know which one to choose”he assures.
The expert also recommends avoiding beers with preservatives and dyes to make the most of this alternative alternative.
