While by giving an association, it is possible to obtain a tax reduction, a report from the General Inspectorate of Finance suggests lowering the tax deduction ceiling. A situation that worries associations.

Donate a charity or for medical research. Each year, more than 5.5 million households give more than 3.5 billion euros. A generosity which gives the right to a tax deduction. Today, it is at least 66 %. When you give 100 euros, you actually only pay 33 euros, the rest is deducted from your taxes. But to save, a report from the General Inspectorate of Finance suggests lowering the tax deduction ceiling. Today, it’s a maximum of 20 % of income. It could be limited to 2,000 euros per year.

A stroke of plane that worries associations. “It would be a 10 % drop in our ability to build very social housing, to offer reception places for homeless people, to renovate and secure housing”explains Christophe Robert, general delegate of the Foundation for the Housing of the disadvantaged. The state could thus recover 360 million euros per year. It is less than 1 % of 40 billion savings to be achieved next year. For economist Mathieu Plane, it is an increase in taxes that does not say his name.
