The two unionists accused of sexual harassment at Force Ouvrière “came out of our union organization”, announced Wednesday November 19 Frédéric Souillot, the general secretary of FO on HERE Paris Île-de-France (formerly France Bleu). “Since last night (Tuesday), finally last night, they have left our union organization. We have carried out an investigation, these facts are unspeakable, so for us, there is no debate, they are leaving”he confirms.
An internal investigation was opened at Force Ouvrière after complaints of sexual harassment from five people against two trade unionists. Dominique Régnier, number 2 of the FO Public Service and Health federation (FO-SPS) and head of the Public Service branch, as well as his assistant, Pierrick Janvier, had already been the subject of precautionary measures. They have no longer been able to go to the union’s premises in Paris since the beginning of October.
Before the summer, two activists denounced “gritty words”, and obscene gestures, showing their genitals. Once the letter was received at the end of September, FO launched an internal investigation. Three other testimonies denouncing similar facts which occurred at other union meetings were reported.
The internal investigation “validates everything that has been reported to us by the comrades. There is a certain confidentiality around this investigation, we asked the two accused to leave the union organization”, repeats Frédéric Souillot. On possible legal proceedings, the general secretary of Force Ouvrière specifies that “the internal commission of inquiry that we had set up will deliver its conclusions on Friday. And then we will take our responsibilities if necessary”, he concludes.
