The Ultras Sfaxiens boycott the CSS–EST match after the ban on an action in support of Gabès

The Ultras Sfaxiens supporters group announced, this Sunday, November 2, 2025, its decision to boycott the match between Club Sportif Sfaxien (CSS) and Esperance sportive de Tunis (EST), played at the Taïeb Mhiri stadium, after the ban on a symbolic action of solidarity with the Gabès region.

In a press release published on their social networks, the Ultras explain that they were preparing to deploy banners and visuals expressing their support for the environmental movement in Gabès and denouncing the persistent pollution which affects the inhabitants of the region.

According to the group, law enforcement prevented the introduction of any material related to this initiative, citing security reasons. “We were told word for word: ‘Don’t even bring them to the base,’” they write, denouncing “provocative behavior” and an attempt to stifle any free voice.

“As always, citizen conscience is confronted with repression,” they deplore, believing that their approach was part of a peaceful and symbolic framework to draw attention to the environmental crimes that Gabès has suffered for decades.

The Ultras Sfaxiens claim to have chosen to boycott the meeting as a sign of protest against this censorship and in solidarity with the inhabitants of Gabès.
