“There are two heroines in this affair”assures Wednesday November 19 on franceinfo Marguerite, school director, who will receive the Île-de-France medal for having put to flight the attacker of a young woman who tried to rape her in the RER C in mid-October. Marguerite came to the young woman’s aid by filming the end of the attack and causing the alleged perpetrator to flee.
The 26-year-old man was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on October 27. Marguerite would like to pay tribute to the victim, a young Brazilian: “I congratulate Jordana who dared to file a complaint, who very quickly was not intimidated by the media and who really used the media to have this individual arrested quickly.”
Marguerite’s intervention was welcomed by Valérie Pécresse, LR president of the Île-de-France region, who announced at the end of October that the region would award her this medal. “It’s really the fact of having had this reflex to take out my phone, to film”she testifies, I knew how to keep this role of intermediary. We have to be careful, sometimes we go to help someone, but we become the victim ourselves.” she adds. Marguerite says she was not immediately aware of her heroic act: “When things came together for me, I acted like everyone else should have done.”
“When I met the police, I understood that I had done something that was not usual.”

Her experience as a community activist in emergency housing seems to have served her well. “I am used to conflicts, to being an intermediary between two people who are in difficulty. In this sector, there are a lot of strong guys, people who are alcoholic, people who are on substances”she explains.
A poster campaign was launched in train and metro stations in Île-de-France to inform the public about the mechanisms for reporting harassment in transport, in particular via the emergency number 3117. But “When you’re in action, you don’t think about 3117”she admits.
