“There is no agreement between the government and the socialists” on the subject of the budget for 2026, assures Monday November 3 on France Inter the first secretary of the PS Olivier Faure. On Sunday, the leader of La France insoumise Jean-Luc Mélenchon accused the socialists of having “changed alliance” and having joined “the alliance with (Gabriel) Attal”secretary general of the presidential Renaissance party, at a time when the socialists are seeking compromises with the government camp to influence the budgetary copy.
“I don’t know what he’s talking about.”retorts Olivier Faure, “everyone here knows that there is no agreement between the government and the socialists”. The PS, on the other hand, is looking for “compromise, crossing points“, he said. On this subject, the first secretary of the PS believes that “Yes”a path is possible for adoption of the budget before the end of the year. “We are on a narrow passageway, but it exists”he says.
He says he wants “to ensure that all these horrors which are still contained in the draft budget and in the draft financing of Social Security disappear”. “For the moment, we are not there yet. But I believe it is possible and I see that we have already obtained a series of revenues which make it possible to compensate for part of these horrors and I also know that there is a deficit trajectory which can be corrected”he believes. “It is not because for the moment we are not satisfied that there is not a way”he insists.
