Thiago Silva, the unexpected return!

Thiago Silva is officially back in Europe. At 41, the Brazilian defender cannot resign himself to hanging up his crampons.

Just three days ago, Thiago Silva announced his departure from Fluminense – his training club which he joined in 2024 from Chelsea. At 41 years old, the person concerned could thus put an end to a beautiful and rich career… This will ultimately not be the case. This Saturday, the Brazilian defender officially took the step of returning to Europe.

It was FC Porto who grabbed the bargain – the former Parisian remaining competitive and having proven himself indispensable to the Carioca club this season again in the Auriverde elite.
This for a short-term contractuntil the end of this fiscal year, with an option for an additional year if all goes well by next spring.

Return to Porto, 20 years later

Among the Dragons, Thiago Silva will not be out of place since he took his first European steps in Porto, with the reserve 20 years ago, before joining Dynamo Moscow, returning to Brazil and exploding into the ranks of AC Milan from 2009. The man we then nicknamed “O Monstro” wanted to take on one last challenge on the Old Continent. If only to be closer to his family back in London since his sons, Iago and Isago – 14 and 17 years old respectively – are currently studying at Chelsea.
