After Stellantis, other manufacturers are affected by the collective action over the failures of Takata airbags. The complaint was extended to three other automobile giants (Toyota, BMW and Volkswagen), as well as other models from the Stellantis group. Already nearly 3,000 Citroën motorist owners have contacted a lawyer for lack of responsiveness in replacing potentially dangerous airbags. When they exploded, they killed 18 people in France.
The lawyers also denounce the absence of loaner vehicles while waiting for the airbags to be changed at the dealership. According to them, the brands concerned are not playing the game. “They all do the same thing. They do not provide clear, precise and fair information to consumers. They are playing with time”says Maître Christophe Léguevaques, lawyer for victims’ families. According to him, brands lacked responsiveness.
Even today, many motorists still do not know if they are affected. Takata airbags equip more than 1.8 million vehicles driving in France. The Ministry of Transport website allows you to enter your vehicle identification number to find out precisely if your car is affected.
