Three French people with the “baa-baas”

On Saturday afternoon, the British Barbarians will face South Africa in CAP as part of the Qatar Airways Cup. Ten players playing in Top 14 will be part of the team, including three French: Melvyn Jaminet (Toulon), Camille Chat (Lyon) and Hassane Kolingar (Racing 92).

A year ago almost to the day, the British Barbarians wide winners of the Fiji (45-32) in Twickenham had already made three French players happy: Virimi Vakatawa, Cameron Woki and Gaël Fickou. On Saturday, in Cape Town, three other Tricolores will have the privilege of wearing the “Baa-Baas” jersey in turn. Like Vakatawa, Fickou and Woki at the time, Camille Chat, Hassane Kolingar and Melvyn Jaminet were selected in the list of British Barbarians.

And not for any match. Saturday afternoon (3:00 p.m.) as part of the Qatar Airways Cup, the one-day team of our three representatives will indeed challenge South Africa, a double reigning world champion, on its lawn of the DHL Stadium. The hooker of Lyon, the rear of Toulon and the left pillar of Racing 92 will be there. However, they will not be the only residents of the Top 14 to be present on the South African lawn on Saturday in the “Baa-Baas” camp.

Ten top 14 players in all

In total, it is indeed ten players of the French championship appear in the list of 23 names unveiled this Tuesday by the famous British selection. Joe Marchant, Paul Alo-Emile (Stade Français), David Ribbans, Leicester Fainga’anuku (Toulon), Will Collier, Santiago Arata (Castres) and Tawera Kerr Barlow (La Rochelle) have also been summoned, in the same way as several stars of world rugby, such as Sam Cane, the former captain of All Blacks or New Zealand XV star player.

More precisely usually, because the winger, who is not part of the group to face the Blues three times this summer, can no longer claim the selection as long as he evolves out of his country (Editor’s note: he will play in a Japanese club next season). The Irish Cian Healy and Peter O’Mahony will also be part of the Glorious Chat teammates, Jaminet and Kolingar.
