For her part, Elsa Jacquemot (96th), with a first round at Indian Wells in 2021, intended to qualify for the first time at the WTA 1000 in Montreal. Opposed to the local Carol Zhao (225th), the 22 -year -old player entered her meeting with a virgin set won in 25 minutes. Despite a second set conceded, the player from Lyon assured and validated her ticket for the main draw in just over two hours of match, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4. She will face Rebecca Marino (118th) on the night of Sunday to Monday.
Finally, the third Frenchwoman engaged in these qualifications, Léolia Jeanjean (99th), for her part, never participated in a WTA 1000 tournament. Opposed to the Canadian Cadence Brace (235th), the player from Montpellier dominated head and shoulder her meeting, thanks to a 6-1, 6-3 victory, validating, at 29, her first participation in a WTA tournament. First round, she will face the German Eva Lys (62nd) this Monday.
