Three women stabbed in the Paris metro, suspect arrested

Three women were injured by a man armed with a knife in the Paris metro on Friday December 26, RATP announced to franceinfo, confirming information from Parisian. The events occurred on line 3, between 4:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., at the Arts-et-Métiers, République and Opéra stations, in the very center of the capital. The suspect, who had fled, was arrested, announced the Paris prosecutor’s office a little later in the evening. He was found in Val-d’Oise, thanks to video surveillance images and the geolocation of his cell phone.

It was the regional transport security services, seized of an open investigation for “attempted intentional homicide” and “intentional violence with a weapon”, which identified the suspect, born in 2000. He is already known to the police services, in particular for acts of damage to property.

According to RATP, the victims were quickly treated by firefighters and the police went to the scene. An AFP journalist saw a woman, injured in the leg, being taken care of by a security team on a line 3 platform at République station. An RATP victim assistance unit has been launched.
