Thunderstorms and heavy rain: farmers and fishermen called to be vigilant

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources published a press release on Friday, December 26, 2025, warning farmers and fishermen of unstable weather conditions in several regions of the country. This alert is part of forecasts from the National Institute of Meteorology, which also issued a weather bulletin indicating a significant risk of heavy precipitation and localized thunderstorms.

Locally intense stormy rains

According to the ministry, from Friday afternoon, Tunisia will experience temporarily stormy rains, particularly in the north and certain central areas. This precipitation is expected to increase at the end of the day and during the night, particularly in the governorates of Nabeul, Sousse, Monastir, Zaghouan, Greater Tunis and Bizerte. Rainfall accumulations are estimated between thirty and fifty millimeters, locally reaching 80 millimeters.

The National Institute of Meteorology specifies that these stormy episodes will be accompanied by hail and gusts of wind, making the situation potentially dangerous for populations and economic activities. This instability will continue on Saturday December 27, 2025, with particularly marked rains in the northern and central eastern regions, and more intensely in the Cap Bon region.

Precautionary measures for farmers and fishermen

Faced with these conditions, the Ministry of Agriculture recommends that farmers take all necessary precautions to protect livestock. Animals must be kept away from wadis and low-lying areas and provided with safe places of shelter. Furthermore, farmers are invited to secure greenhouses, equipment and machines in order to limit the risk of material damage.

The ministry also addresses fishermen and recommends that they not go to sea until weather conditions stabilize. The objective is to prevent any accident at sea and to protect ships and people from gusts of wind and storms.
