Toulouse only made an exeter bite during the second day of champions Cup, going to win 21-64 in England thanks to six trials marked!
After having atomized the Ulster during the 1st day (61-21), the Stade Toulousain did again honor its status as European champion! Opposed to the red lantern of the English championship, Exeter, who lost his seven games and has no “chiefs” than the name, the men of Ugo Mola, leaders of the Top 14, went to win 21-64 in Sandy Park by scoring ten tests! From half an hour of play, Toulouse was already leading 21-0, after having marked three tests. It was first Antoine Dupont (8th) who concluded between the posts a magnificent collective action of the Toulouse. Then after a left side touch, Julien Marchand scored following a ball worn (18th).
In the 30th, Mathis Lebel rewarded Toulouse domination by scoring between the posts after a great race, following a no less beautiful race by Pierre-Louis Barassi on a recovery in the midfield. After the dismissal, Exeter managed to keep the ball and ended up scoring thanks to Tommy Wyatt, well served by Stownsend (7-21). But Toulouse replied in the process, with a test signed Thibaud Flament in the right corner, after a pass from Dupont (7-28). Just before half-time, Townsend received a yellow card for an accumulation of faults from his team and Barassi took advantage of the numerical superiority to register the fifth test of his team, on a new pass from Dupont (7-35, MT).
Doubled for Lebel and Barassi
The second half began in the best way for Toulouse, which marked a sixth test by Lebel, in excess left side after a ball worn (7-40). This second half proved to be spectacular, with two tests on each side in the space of a quarter of an hour: Wyatt to exercise on the left wing (14-40), then Barassi for Toulouse in the left corner on a pass from Thomas Ramos (14-45), then Josh Hodge to exercise after having concluded for himself (21-45), and finally Théo Ntamack Race (21-52). And it was Toulouse who finished the strongest!
At the 70th, Blair Kinghorn added a new test, marking on the right wing after a pass from Ramos (21-59). Then three minutes from the mermaid, Kinghorn turned into a smuggler for Paul Graou, author of the tenth essay of the European Champions (21-64)! It is still an impressive victory of the Toulousains, head of group 1 tied with Bordeaux-Bègles, before going to the Sharks next month.
