If you are 18, the license in your pocket and you are a student, you can pilot a tram during the summer. This is the case, for example, in Caen, in Calvados.
Check your speed, locate potential obstacles … In ten days, Erwan, 20 and still a student, will be in charge of a Caen tram (Calvados). A summer job that is out of the ordinary. “Even if we have a lot of passengers, it is rather the danger compared to the cars”he explained. 14 students are trained to drive the Caen trams. Each young person will transport up to 280 people, in a 60 -ton vehicle.
After 140 hours of training for four weeks, they will go into practice throughout the summer. The only requirement for departure: hold permit B. and even if they do not have as many kilometers on the clock as the holders, the network manager assures him: they will be just as competent. This is an approach to overcome the lack of staff in the summer period and, perhaps, arouse new vocations. Paris, Bordeaux and Lyon also offered the same type of summer job.
