This Sunday, via its website, the Union Bordeaux-Bègles club published a press release to formalize the extension of the contract, until 2028, of its French international center Nicolas Depoortere, now 22 years old. Then just 5 years old, the native of Pessac had decided to move towards rugby, in the footsteps of his big brother Jules.
The center went through Lormont, before meeting at CABB (Athletic Club Bordeaux Bègles Gironde) where it was formed. It was then in 2016 that the French international joined the training center of the Union Bordeaux-Bègles club. Team which then allowed him to make his debut in the professional world. Nicolas Depoortere was also called in selection. With the French team under 20, the player notably won the title of world champion in 2023.
Depoortere discovered the Top 14 in 2022
On December 23, 2022, the center discovered the Top 14, on the lawn of La Rochelle. On this occasion, the French international had entered during the game. This great first ended in a victory, on the side of Deflandre. On September 14, Depoortere was appointed captain of his UBB team, in a meeting, facing the Lou, counting for the 2nd day of the French championship. This had allowed him to become the second youngest player in the history of his club to access such a distinction, after Baptiste Serin, who had this honor, 10 years ago, then was only 20 years old.
Nicolas Depoortere is part of a particularly promising French rugby generation. Constant in his progress, the young 22 -year -old discovered the XV of France last year. Since then, the center has had a total of two selections, but with, for the moment, no registered point.
